Folding it up: The Snake Pit is a circular solid-fuel basket with an inner and outer row of fingers. The inner row of fingers are to be folded upward to 90° & the outer row is to be folded up to just beyond 45°. It should be possible to fold the fingers up by hand, but you can also use a pair of pliers or multi-grips if required.
Final Shaping to your Barbeque: Once you have all the fingers folded to this point, place the Snake Pit onto the charcoal grate in your kettle. Then, adjust the angle of the outer row of fingers to follow and form to the shape of the kettle bowl. Do not excessively fold and unfold the fingers as they can snap off!
Building a ‘Snake’ in the Snake Pit: The Snake Pit is designed for use with all types of solid barbecue fuels. Use the following method for building a snake for consistent and repeatable results when using charcoal briquettes: 1): The outside bottom row of briquettes stand against the outside fingers of the ring shoulder-to-shoulder style. 2): The inside bottom row is placed like fallen dominoes, laying onto each other. 3): The top row is placed to lay onto each other like the inside bottom row. 4): Place a small amount of lit coals at the head of the snake and away you go for hours of beautifully consistent temperatures. For best results, the lid damper on your kettle should be positioned wide open while using the lower vent(s) for adjusting to your desired temperature. You can also use extruded fuels or lump charcoal (or a combination) to form a snake too.
Warranty: Your Snake Pit is warranted for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase against manufacturing defects. If anything should go wrong, get in touch with us
